Season of Celebrations!

Happy
New Year Dear Readers. Hope you are doing great. Let's start this new year on a wonderful note. I have a delicious, memorable experience to share with you.
Words never fail to accomplish their common mission to describe the describable and the indescribable profitably. Of course, anything that places one within the confines of one's hope of it is said to be "easily describable". Besides the moment one beholds someone or something and catches a beautiful feeling that stretches beyond the boundary of one's anticipation, one is influenced to qualify the object of affection as simply "difficult to be described". Moreover, when the nature, magnitude of the worth of an object of attention beats one's preconceptions extremely like a heavy rain and leaves one drenched, shivering with a flood of astounding enthusiasm, it can be honestly described as "indescribable".
"Indescribable" was the exact feeling I conceived on the spur of the moment I walked into Auditorium II on the night of 18th January, 2018. I was honoured with a buoyant welcome, wrapped up in the warm embrace of an intense, healthy debate between two sweet looking, sense making presidential aspirants, Hon. Ogunbiyi Akinleye Matthias and Rtd. NASELS Assistant General Secretary, Tiamiyu Daniel Olufemi, exquisitely anchored by the great trio of the National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies(NASELS) President Emeritus, Afeez Gbadamosi(My Boss); NASELS Students Representative Council (NSRC) Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adelowo Adegboyega and Obafemi Awolowo University's Students' Union Public Relations Officer, Okediji Simeon (Zuma). Frankly speaking, the debate was a battle of words, wits and worthies. The debaters were simply two elephants engaged in an harmonious conflict and a peaceful war, happily triggered, fueled, amplified by highly combustible, challenging questions which attracted the esteem affection of everyone present. It lasted for a reasonable while, after which the traditional night commenced. Its significance will remain ever fresh in the political history of the political life of the Obafemi Awolowo University's branch of the association.
Anchored by Humorous AB Black and Adorable Toke, the traditional night celebrated the rich cultures, especially the mode of dressing and effective use of language, of Nigerian tribes. Outgoing NASELS' President, Sola Fatoba Peter (Sholly Ma) and Director of Socials, Ashiru Adekunle, started the festivity with thankful, exceedingly appreciative addresses after which I was opportune to spice the start with a nice song I recently composed in honour of the Department of English and NASELS. Music Artistes including Tobiano Ace, Jboy, Luvcodes, Lil Frosh, Ace code, ife d bad guy and the live band thrilled the audience handsomely (I mean handsomely in the real sense because they were all men. Seriously, I have been wondering ever since where the talented ladies are hiding) and a Mr and Miss WAZOBIA pageant moderated by its 2016/2017 gorgeous winners, Outgoing NASELS Public Relations Officer, Olaobaju Juwon Ayomitunde (Kid Boss) and NASELSITE, Afolayan Tolu produced new compatible, charming winners, NASELS PRO-elect, Akingboye Sunday Segun and NASELSITE, Fakeye Olaitan. Virtually everyone succumbed to the enticing rhythm of mellifluous beats and danced merrily and magnificently thereafter.
The Manifesto night began immediately the gala ended. Hosted by Buah DanSabe Kuni, it was dedicated to the evaluation of all aspirants that vied for NASELS'  Executive Council Positions in the election that took place on Friday, 19th January, 2018 at the Department of English language's lobby shortly after a colloquium, an interactive session Head of the Department of English, Professor Oyeniyi Okunoye had with English students in company with a Senior Lecturer, also in the Department of English language, Dr Adejuwon at the same venue.
Names of aspirants, together with posts they contended for included Ogunbiyi Akinleye Matthias and Tiamiyu Daniel Olufemi (President); Ugbor Princess Miriam (Ighodalo) and Akinwale Oluwasola Toyosi (Sholly T)(Vice President); Honourable Adeniji Mahmoud Taiwo (ATM), Adekunjo Olamilekan Samuel (Sammy), Omosebi Temitope Enoch (Tiptop), and Abeleje Folasade Oluwayemisi (General Secretary); Akinlawon Elijah Damilola (Assistant General Secretary); James Opeyemi Abidemi (Indomie)(Financial Secretary); Adekola Oluwaseun Itunuoluwa (Olucrown)(Treasurer); Akerekan Samuel Babatunde(Social Director); Akingboye Sunday Segun(Public Relations Officer); Siyanbola Olawale (Hollick)(Sports Director); Toheeb Oseni Olamilekan (De literatus) and Awogbemi Oladimeji Ayomide(Librarian); Adeboboye Iyanuoluwa Rachael(Assistant Librarian).
They were thoroughly examined, interrogated by the pressmen and the intellectually equipped audience, including notable personalities such as NASELS' Vice President Emeritus, Adeyemo Damilola Deborah(Olori); NASELS' General Secretary Emeritus and NSRC Member, Hon. Ibrahim Sulaimon Olayiwola(Affability); NSRC Deputy Speaker, Hon. Falope Gbenga(Fallop G); Clerk, NSRC, Faruq Sanni; eminent NSRC Members, Honourables Gbolagade Taiwo Ayodeji and Oke Ademola Moses; member, FSRC (FASA Students Representative Council), Abdulazeez Toheeb Babatunde(General Mata), English language department Part two Class Representative, Nwude Princess Ifeoma(Prof. P); OAU’s representative at the 2017 Pre-NUGA handball game, Moses Okeya Sunday; Omotoye Mary Odunayo; Adebayo Funmilayo Olaide among other valuable contributors.
Pressmen at the manifesto night included RADAR/NANCE President, Isaac Omole, NASELS Communication Bureau(NCB) representatives, Olatidoye Yusuf and Adeleke Matthew; Sodiq (OAU Kilonshele); Awowoyin Praise Ayomide and Oludiran Olusola (Icons News Agency); Uthman Samad Opeyemi(OAU Peeps Agency); Awowoyin Praise Ayomide and Oludiran Olusola (Icons News Agency) and "I" (Represented Myself, My Blog, Bukolapedia..Lolz!) among others.
As one of the "pressmen", (Mind you, I am a woman o! I need to clarify my gender status to my very funny fans who after seeing my pictures on my blog still address me as a "brother"...Maybe my conduct is too boyish and deserves to be complimented... Funny!), I was one of the readers of their radiant citations to an attentive audience. The examination exercise lasted till dawn and ushered in the election day. And trust! Refreshment was provided for everyone.
Being a huge success, the election has produced winners who Bukolapedia congratulates unreservedly, wishes a collectively fruitful tenure and advises to use their good office to improve upon the desired academic and overall transformation established by previous and the outgoing administrations.
The winners, President-elect, Matthias; Vice President-elect, Ighodalo Princess; General Secretary-elect, Hon. Mahmoud; Assistant General Secretary-elect, Akinlawon Elijah Damilola;
Treasurer-elect, Adekola Oluwaseun Itunuoluwa; Public Relations Officer-elect, Akingboye Sunday Segun; Financial Secretary-elect, James Opeyemi Abidemi (Indomie)(Financial Secretary); Sports Director-elect, Siyanbola Olawale (Hollick); Librarian-elect, Toheeb Oseni Olamilekan (De literatus); and Assistant Librarian-elect, Adeboboye Iyanuoluwa Rachael are tasked to make their rival contestants feel a sense of belonging, give them a voice, as well as respect and significance to establish the purposeful, progressive no victor, no vanquish principle, to foster concordance, cooperation and peace and progress among us. God bless us all.
I, Hon. Bukola Olafenwa, use this medium to commend, congratulate the ADSCENSIO '17 team for the professional organisation of the events plus the successes they produced. I remember capturing the supportive gestures of outgoing NASELS Vice President, Mary Oluwatoyin Akindoyin(Mama G) severally and a beautiful brother, Outgoing NASELS General Secretary, Owolabi Damilare consistently filling the position of the cameraman and photographer. I caught the flavours in the complementary expressions of the rest of the NASELS Executive crew. I must admit that the presence and active participation of both past and present members of NASELS' Executive Council, NASELS Students' Representative Council (NSRC) and other distinguished English language students in the night long events were priceless and supportive. Kudos to our darling D.J. Keyz and Sound Engineer, T-Zico; they delivered awesomely. And one more fact: NASELS Electoral officers(Part two constituency), Akande Oluwadamilola Omotoyosi and Gabriel Hunge as well as others put in their best, contributed immensely to the favourable outcome of the manifesto night. Hoping the feeling is mutual, I am proud to say I love OAU's Department of English and I love NASELS.
